The Media Ownership Authority gives Asker og Bærums Budstikke ASA an advance clearance to acquire 40 percent of the shares in Asker og Bærum Lokal-TV AS.

The newspaper Asker og Bærums Budstikke owns today 49 percent of the shares in the local tv-company and after the planned acquisition it will be owner of 89 percent of the shares. The Media Ownership Authority has considered the case and concluded that there is no reason to intervene in this particular case.

Pursuant to the Media Ownership Act, a person may request advance clearance for an acquisition prior to concluding a final agreement. The parties to such an agreement may request an assurance within thirty days to the effect that no intervention will be made under the Media Ownership Act. In cases where an acquisition is made, the Media Ownership Authority may intervene within six months, partly due to an assessment of the effects in the relevant media market. In this particular case the Media Ownership Authority has within the time-limit of thirty days made a decision to give an advance clearance.

The Authority’s decision (in Norwegian) can be found on the Internet under www.eierskapstilsynet.no. Copies will also be forwarded on request.
